From 27 to 29 March 2026, Black History Study Tours offers an immersive guided tour in the heart of Brussels, exploring Belgium’s afrodescendant memory—from its colonial past to its contemporary cultural contributions. Accompanied by an expert guide, participants will discover the monuments, neighborhoods and emblematic figures that testify to the often overlooked role of Africans and Afrodescendants in the history of the country, from the 19th century to today. This unique experience also highlights the historical links between Belgium and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, notably through the reign of Leopold II and the Berlin Conference of 1884 which redrew the borders of the African continent. The route addresses key themes such as the impact of colonialism on Belgian prosperity, the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, and the living heritage of Congolese communities in Brussels. The tour includes on-site accommodation and free time to explore the city at your own pace. An exceptional opportunity to reconnect the African diaspora to its history, while giving voice and visibility to a shared memory at the heart of Europe.
