
Wolof is spoken not only in Senegal, but also in Gambia and Mauritania. It is one of the 1500 languages of the largest language family in the world called Niger-Congo. Wolof is related to the so-called Atlantic languages, a branch of Niger-Congo that brings together more than forty languages from West Africa.
